Terence Newman launched his unique charitable foundation, the Terence Newman Rising Stars Foundation, in November 2007 in order to benefit and support the most promising young student-athletes in the Dallas Independent School District.

This program, which works closely with the National Football Foundation’s Play It Smart program, selects 10 ninth-grade football players each year from the six Dallas Play It Smart high schools and follows them through their high school years.

Cowboys All-Pro Jason Witten formed his foundation, which stands for "Support. Community. Overcome. Rebuild. Educate," in order to benefit and support families in crisis, with the goal to help these families overcome hardship and rebuild their lives. Witten, who was a finalist for the 2007 NFL man of the Year award has started the SCOREkeepers program, which places male mentors in 6 family shelters across Texas. He has received numerous awards for his work against domestic violence.
