The Terry McLaurin Foundation
In 2022, Icon worked with Washington Commanders Pro Bowl receiver Terry McLaurin to launch the Terry McLaurin Foundation. Over the past four years, the foundation has made a profound impact in the DMV and beyond.
Icon operates the foundation through fiscal sponsorship with The Dreambuilders Foundation, an existing 501c3 non-profit which allows athletes to organize their own unique foundations under the existing non-profit structure so that there is no need to worry about legal filings, compliance, accounting and other administrative tasks.
Prior to launch, Icon worked with Terry McLaurin to put together unique initiatives that were in line with his community passions and that would stand out among other sports charities. In 2024, the foundation opened the first three “Terry’s Lockers” that provide children in low-income schools and community centers with access to new laundry facilities to clean their clothes and lockers filled with hygiene items and clothing to ensure that every child has the tools to feel healthy and confident when they come to school.
The next year, Terry launched the “Terry McLaurin Full-Circle Job Readiness Program” in conjunction with Mobile Hope in Northern Virginia, and is set to expand into the District of Columbia with Living Classrooms this year. This initiative gives young men and women who are aging out of the foster care system with support as they prepare to enter the job market. This includes giving them access to professional clothing, haircuts, resume-building support and interview coaching.
In addition to those core initiatives, the foundation also hosts regular outreach activities like events celebrating back to school, Thanksgiving and the Holidays, as well as the Terry McLaurin Birthday Celebration, providing a large birthday celebration with gifts for foster children who may not otherwise get to celebrate their birthdays.
